Family-Owned and Safety-Focused Since 1976.
The Bill Sims Company Inc. began with a mission to support the industries that make everything possible.
What started with helping business owners improve quality evolved into a comprehensive safety consulting business, and eventually into SmartCard®, our patented, behavior-based safety system designed for industries where mistakes can be life-changing. Decades of experience and feedback from our clients have refined SmartCard to address real-world challenges, influence behavior, and strengthen safety culture on the ground.
We remain a family-owned business, still answering our own phones and working side-by-side with our clients to build stronger, sustainable safety cultures for the long haul.

William "Bill" Sims, Sr.
"It is a fundamental human need to avoid being hurt and to avoid seeing others hurt."
Bill passed that heartfelt care for workers' wellbeing on to his children, who run the business together today.
Meet the Team
Family-owned and operated since day 1.
David Sims, Sr.

Job Title
After graduating high school in 1977, David joined his dad, Bill Sr., in the family business. He started out in accounting before moving into sales, then sales management. His path shifted toward safety when he began writing articles on safety incentive programs for the Public Risk Management Association and was invited to speak at their annual conference– a turning point that led him to building relationships with safety professionals directly.
Since them, he has been a featured speaker at conferences for the National Safety Council, ASSP, and VPPA. One of the highlights of his career was speaking at ASSE (now ASSP) immediately following Dan Petersen, a true pioneer in workplace safety.
Today, David leads supervisor training for clients and manages their long-term success. What he loves most about his work is seeing real, measurable improvements that make work better for employees while also moving the needle on the outcomes executives measure.

Keeping Our Promise to You
Bill Sr. had a simple question to ask clients: "Have we kept our promise?"
Listening to clients, following through on commitments, and standing behind our services is just how we do business. Technology and workplaces have changed over the last 50 years, but our promise hasn't. We strive to be a trusted partner that delivers practical solutions, responsive support, and results our clients can count on.
Our Values
While our programs and technology have evolved over five decades, the values behind our work have remained the same. They shape how we serve our clients, support their leaders, and help organizations build safer, stronger workplaces.
People First
Behind every safety metric, productivity report, and business outcome are people. We believe leaders have the greatest influence on workplace culture, and that when people know they're valued, recognized, and supported, they do their best work.
Integrity
Our clients trust us because we strive to create relationships built on honesty, accountability, and delivering on our promises. We strive to do what's best for each client.
Honesty
Real improvement begins with honest conversations. We measure our success by helping our clients make informed decisions that create lasting change. We believe in being candid about challenges, realistic about expectations, and transparent in our recommendations.
Continuous Improvement
The world of work has changed dramatically since 1975, and we've changed with it. From paper-based recognition programs to today's mobile platform, we've continually evolved our solutions to reflect advances in technology, behavioral science, and workplace safety. But one thing hasn't changed: our belief that better leadership creates safer, stronger, and more productive workplaces.
Our philosophy is simple.
We believe safety improves when leaders recognize people, not just results. Giving genuine commendation for specific achievements contributes to a positive workplace culture, which is proven to improve employee engagement, retention, and performance.
